City of Riverside 2015 Anti-Graffiti Poster and Video Contests Now Open

Do you have artistic talent? Are you a middle or high school student in the City of Riverside? Would you like to be $500 or even $1,000 richer? If you answered "yes" to these questions, the 2015 Anti-Graffiti Poster and Video Contests are for you!

Sponsored by the City of Riverside Public Works Department, these two contests encourage students to express themselves creatively through legal artwork while discouraging graffiti vandalism. The contests are open until 3 p.m. Dec. 31.

City of Riverside to Host California Association of Human Relations Organizations

The California Association of Human Relations Organizations (CAHRO) will come to Riverside next month to kick off a series of workshops designed to help community leaders understand what resources are available to create a more informed and inclusive multicultural society. The first workshop is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Mayor's Ceremonial Room on the seventh floor of Riverside City Hall, 3900 Main Street.

Riverside Residents Can Apply for Openings on Code of Ethics Ad Hoc Committee

The City of Riverside is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Code of Ethics and Conduct Review Ad Hoc Committee. The Committee will consist of nine members, including one from each ward and two at-large seats. The Committee’s charge is to review the Code of Ethics and Conduct and forward recommendations on the complaint process to the City Council Governmental Affairs Committee.

The City of Riverside received the American Heart Association's 2014 Platinum Fit-Friendly Award and the Worksite Innovation Award for promoting a Health and Wellness culture amongst employees and implementing efforts to become a Fit-Friendly organization.

Mayor's Celebration for Arts and Innovation Boasts Art, Music, Food, Spazmatics

The Mayor's Celebration for Arts and Innovation, which spotlights art, music, technology and food to raise money for the Riverside Arts Council and SmartRiverside, just got a little more hip with the addition of The Spazmatics, the only band to combine nerd culture, spot-on renditions of 80s rock classics and a healthy dose of irony. The Oct. 11 event at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium is dubbed "This is Riverside," and is is jam-packed with local entertainment.

Community members with an interest in how a streetcar system might provide additional public transportation options are invited to join in a community charrette and provide their own input Wednesday (9/24) evening. The public event is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Community Center, 2060 University Avenue.
