From gospel to Broadway to original composition, Raincross Chorale director Steve Kester has created an eclectic mix for the fall concert set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Riverside. He calls it “Conductor’s Choice.” Tickets are $15 and discounts are available for 10 or more people buying together.
This group was founded as part of the annual Dickens Festival. The choir of nearly 50 voices is a volunteer organization that offers high-quality concerts, and raises money to support scholarships for music students. The longtime accompanist for the group is Sue Shelton. The program in October includes popular pieces such as “Danny Boy,” “Elijah Rock,” and a medley from the Broadway show My Fair Lady. Those are balanced out with classic sacred pieces such as “None Other Lamb” and “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes.” Making a debut time are two pieces composed by Kester, called “Silence” and “Quietness.”
The non-profit group welcomes local advertisers in the program, as well as donations toward scholarships.
