High School parking lot for a one-hour walk along the Gage Canal and
around the Victoria neighborhood.

 Three Riverside schools rank in
the nation’s top six percent

The City of Riverside is proud to announce that three of its schools were
recently selected as one of “America’s Best High Schools 2010” by
Newsweek Magazine.  Out of approximately 27,000 U.S. public high
schools only six percent made the list.  The three high ranking schools are
Riverside Poly, J.W. North and Martin Luther King.

 New measure to generate funds
on November ballot

In an effort to generate additional funds for the City of Riverside’s
essential services, the City Council placed a new measure on the
November 2 ballot.  Measure V is a hotel tax, paid only by hotel guests.

Magnolia Avenue Grade Separation

In order to relieve traffic congestion, the Magnolia Avenue Grade
Separation project is lowering the road under the Union Pacific
Railroad tracks in Magnolia Center.  This project will eliminate
2.3 hours of gate down time which stops traffic and over three
minutes per day of delay for emergency responders, as well as
16.8 tons per year of green house gasses from idling cars.

novelist coming to Riverside

David Gerrold, award-winning science fiction, fantasy, and horror
author and scriptwriter best known for penning the most popular
Star Trek television episode, “The Trouble with Tribbles” will
appear in Riverside on Saturday, September 18, from 1 - 4 p.m.
at the Metropolitan Showcase in Riverside
