Interstate 215 Lane Closures
CalTrans would like to inform motorists of a project beginning on Interstate 215 from Orange Show Road in San Bernardino to the 60/91/215 interchange. The project will add an HOV lane (carpool lane) in each direction, two rebuilt railroad bridges, and one new railroad bridge will be added. Additionally, the Newport Bridge will be demolished and rebuilt, and Interstate 10 and the Santa Ana River Bridge will be widened. Beginning February 19 through March 1, the following closures will occur from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.: Northbound I-215 alternating lane closures from Center St. to Washington/Mt. Vernon and Southbound I-215 alternating lane closures from Washington/Mt. Vernon to Center St. (no detours necessary as at least one lane will remain open when full freeway closures are not taking place); Northbound I-215 alternating ramp closures from Center St. to Washington/Mt. Vernon and Southbound I-215 alternating ramp closures from Washington/Mt. Vernon to Center St. (follow posted detour signs). CalTrans would like to remind motorists to be aware of the construction area and always make a point to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
Pick Power Breakfast: Virginia Phillips
The Pick Group will host their monthly Pick Power Breakfast featuring Honorable Virginia Phillips, United States District Judge. Riverside Raincross 5K Run/Walk
Join the 8th annual 5K Run/Walk through Fairmount Park! The Run/Walk will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 7:30 – 10 a.m. (the 5K run will begin promptly at 7:30 a.m. and the Kids’ Heroes Run at 8:30 a.m.) at Fairmount Park (2601 Fairmount Blvd., Riverside, CA 92501). Challenge yourself with the scenic 5K course, bring the kids along to participate in the Kids Heroes Run or visit the vendors at the Family Fitness Fair. Registration accepted at your local community center or online.
2nd Annual LULAC Health Fair
The League of Latin American Citizens of Riverside (LULAC) and the Chicano/ Latinos for Community Medicine of Riverside City College (CCM) are co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual LULAC Health Fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 23 at the César Chávez Community Center (2060 University Ave., Riverside, CA 92507). The fair is free to the public and will offer a range of services including medical check-ups, dental care, vision tests, free glasses, acupuncture, health screenings, fitness demonstrations, health workshops, haircuts and manicures. Representatives from the Riverside County Department of Public Health, MediCal and nonprofit clinics will provide information on accessing free and low-cost services. “H.M.S. Pinafore” at the Fox
The nationally-renowned Gilbert and Sullivan touring repertory company, Opera a La Carte returns to the Fox Performing Arts Center with a classic of song and satire, “H.M.S. Pinafore” on Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. The opera's humor centers on love between members of different social classes and lampoons the British class system in general. Pinafore also pokes good-natured fun at patriotism, party politics, the Royal Navy, and the rise of unqualified people to positions of authority.
