Application Process: Civilians

Civilian Task Force Members must complete the same courses that are required by Firefighter and Task Force Members.
General Training Requirements Training sessions for civilians must be accessed through Target Safety. Civilians must obtain a logon ID and password to gain entry into the Target Safety site. Only after you have received authorization from Division Chief Hearn will you receive your password and ID. Division Chief Hearn can be reach at lhearn@riversideca.gov 

Use the US&R Team Member Checklist to track your progress

Applicants must:

1. Review PowerPoint Critical Incident Stress Awareness Training Complete Test
   Print test and send copy to US&R for personnel file

2. Complete IS-100 and IS-200 (or their equivalent), plus IS-700 and IS-800B online courses. http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.ASP (IS-100.a, IS-200.a, IS-700, IS-800.b)
   Print certificate send copy to US&R for personnel file

3. Complete DHS/FEMA National US&R Response System Orientation course Review PowerPoint  Complete test, print and send copy to US&R for personnel file
   

4. CA Orientation Presentation

5. Complete initial training at the First Responder Operations level for Hazardous Material http://targetsafety.com/riversidefd/
   Print certificate and send copy to US&R for personnel file
   Complete annual refresher training as required

6. Must be/stay current on CPR
   

7. Complete Respiratory Protection Training 

   Course can be accessed on-line at http://targetsafety.com/riversidefd/  Print certificate and send copy to US&R for personnel file
   

8. Complete NFPA 1670 Awareness Level training for Confined Space Rescue Operations Awareness
   Course can be accessed on-line at  http://targetsafety.com/riversidefd/ 
   Print certificate and send copy to US&R for personnel file
   


9. Water Rescue Operations Awareness Request CD from Mike Williams or Carol Blake Swiftwater Rescue Techniques -    Watch main video portion of CD Swept Away - Watch for additional Water Awareness Training portion of CD
   
   
10. Complete Structural Collapse Awareness - Course can be accessed at http://Disasterengineer.org;

11. Print certificate and send copy to US&R for personnel file
    Complete Blood-borne Pathogen Training
    Course can be accessed on-line @ http://targetsafety.com/riversidefd/
    Print certificate for personnel file
    

12. GPS Awareness
    Review GPS Awareness PowerPoint Presentation
    Complete test and send copy to US&R for personnel file

13. Complete Personnel Information form (2 pages), OF612 form and Oath form. Oath must be notarized.
