Community Involvement

Graffiti Clean-Up crewA crucial part of any Public Education Program is to create partnerships between the groups of people that make up the community. With the support of the community Riverside will strengthen the efforts in graffiti prevention.

KRCB and the City of Riverside co-chair a Public Education Program (PEP) meeting regarding graffiti related projects and issues. Individual community members are invited to join representatives from local government and private agencies to discuss solutions to graffiti problems in the community. Meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every other month (February, April, June, October, December) at the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce offices, 3985 University Avenue in Riverside. The next PEP meeting will be held on October 10th.

Community Program Options

  • Public outreach through newsletters and Riverside Monthly and City's webpage.

  • Outreach through neighborhood groups; neighborhood graffiti watch, or adopt-a-block (hot spot areas such as high profile bridges and underpasses).

  • School outreach programs to re-channel tagger activities.

  • Outreach to homeowner associations to educate them in addressing graffiti problems (particularly the five strategies concept).
