The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Even earlier than Nosferatu, the atmospheric “Cabinet of Caligari” is another forerunner in the horror genre. Conrad Veidt stars in the 1919 silent film notable for its stylish German expressionist sets and makeup along with its plot-twist ending.

An American Haunting

A classic haunted house story, this film is based on a true story set in Tennessee in 1818. A family tries to defeat a spirit but is too late to prevent the death of its patriarch. Released in 2005, it stars Donald Sutherland.
