Special Transportation makes life easier.

Special Transportation is a paratransit bus service that provides disabled residents and seniors age 60 and over rides to the mall, doctor's appointments, group events, senior centers or to visit friends.

Rides available for $2 each one-way trip.  (New fares beginning Sept. 1, $3 per each one-way trip and $2 per each one way medical trip.  For a list of frequently asked questions relating to the fare change, please click here.)
Monday - Friday • 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m
Saturdays, Sundays & holidays • 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Service not provided on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day

 


Information the Dispatcher will need:

The date, day and time that you want to be picked up and returned

Your name and telephone number

If you are going to a medical appointment, give your appointment time and the doctor's telephone number

Number of passengers riding (A required attendant may ride for free; a companion is required to pay.)

If you use a wheelchair, and if you need to use the lift

The address for pickup, destination & return pickup.


Other Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I go?
Anywhere in the City limits. In addition, you can go to designated transfer points to travel into Corona, Loma Linda, Mira Loma, San Bernardino and Woodcrest. Call the office for more information.

Can I reserve more than one ride?
Yes. After 11:00 a.m., the dispatch lines are usually clear enough to take multiple reservations.

If I'm not ready and miss my ride, can I get one later?
Usually not, unless that day's routing permits an extra return trip.

If I can't use my reservation, what should I do?
Call the reservation number to cancel. If you can cancel early in the day, someone else will have the opportunity to use that time slot.

If I cancel at the last minute, will I be denied future service?
No. However, routine cancellations or "No Shows" could result in a restriction on the number of reservations allowed you.

Are there any limitations on carry-on parcels & packages?
You may take up to three (3) packages with you. Each item must not weigh more than 20 pounds.

How can I retrieve items left on the van?
Items left in the van will be brought into the office. You are responsible for arranging to have your items returned to you. Items left in the office for more than 4 weeks will be donated to a local charity.

Refund Policy:

Refunds will not be granted unless class is cancelled. Credits will be issued for the amount of the course if the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is notified before the second class meeting. Exceptions – Special Events, Aquatics, Lifeguard Training, Day Camps, and After School programs, due to high demand and limited spacing, credits, transfers or refunds will not be issued.
Refunds will not be granted for Youth Sports programs, however credits will be issued if requested in writing two weeks prior to the first scheduled game.
Online registration transaction fees are non-refundable.
