Magnolia Avenue Underpass at Union Pacific Railroad

The project included the construction of an underpass at the the location of realigned Magnolia Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks.
Project consists of, but is not limited to, the following major activities:
Construction of a temporary single railroad shoofly track including subgrade, subballast, ballast, track ties, and turnouts.
Construction of a double track steel bridge structure.
Construction of retaining walls.
Excavation and grading of Magnolia Avenue for approximately 1,500 feet, from approximately 750 feet south of the UPRR crossing to approximately 750 feet north of the UPRR crossing. Part 1, Page 3
Construction of approximately 1500 feet of new 4-lane divided roadway along Magnolia Avenue including A.C. pavement, P.C.C. curbs, gutters, sidewalks, wheel chair ramps, driveways, retaining walls.
Construction of approximately 1600 feet of roadway modifications and widening on Beatty Drive, Merrill Avenue, and Nogales Street.
Relocation and reconstruction or undergrounding of existing overhead utilities (electric, telephone, and cable).
Relocation and reconstruction of existing water and sewer lines and services.
Construction and relocation of new or existing storm drain facilities.
Construction of new pump station.
Installation of new traffic signals.
Installation of new landscape and irrigation improvements.
Installation of new traffic signing and striping improvements.
Demolition and removal of buildings and improvements on six (6) parcels that have been acquired, by the City, for the project. All railroad signal work shall be performed by UPRR forces. All work related to the relocation of the Automated Train Horn Warning Systems (ATHWS) shall be performed by the contractor. UPRR will also remove the existing signals in addition to any temporary signals installed as part of this project.
