Description

The Streeter Avenue Grade Separation project will lower Streeter Avenue under the railroad tracks. Two bridges will be built - one to carry the Dewey Avenue over Streeter Avenue, and one to carry railroad tracks over Streeter Avenue. The project will realign and reconfigure Appleton and Lantana Streets; and construct a new street (Jerry Lauder Drive) to connect Streeter and Dewey Avenues.

Construction began in December 2012.

Project Benefits and Facts

• Eliminates about 3-6 minutes of average delay for each emergency responder that encounters a train.
• Average daily traffic on Streeter Avenue is currently 12,800 vehicles per day and is projected to increase to 29,000 by 2025.
• Approximately 59 trains per day cross Dewey and Streeter Avenue.
