Uncontrolled stormwater runoff from construction sites can significantly impact rivers, lakes, and other waterbodies. To help control stormwater runoff, all construction activity within the city is required to implement Best Management Practices (BMPs). BMPs include schedules of activities, prohibitions of practices, maintenance procedures, and other management practices to prevent, eliminate, or reduce the pollution of waters of the receiving waters.
All projects within the City of Riverside that result in a land disturbance of at least one acre are subject to the State of California Construction General Permit (CGP). These projects must have all applicable Permit Registration Documents (PRDs) and provide them as part of the application process. For additional information regarding the CGP and its requirements, please go to the State Water Resources Control Board website.
