Riverside Police Launch Get Home Safe Program

The Get Home Safe Program consists of an electronic profile that is linked to a unique, scannable Smart Medical ID Bracelet. These bracelets and emergency information may help first responders locate and identify your cognitive impaired loved one if they go missing.  The profile information is available to Police and Emergency Medical Personnel to assist in locating a missing person, or identifying a person who is lost and unable to identify him or herself.  Click for more information.

IRS Scam Being Investigated by Department of Treasury

There have been many reports of citizens receiving calls where the caller claims he/she owes back taxes.  The caller attempts to persuade the victim to purchase a “Green Dot” card by providing credit card information over the phone to pay the tax liability.  In many cases, the caller claims to be an IRS Agent and threatens the victim with arrest. The IRS is NOT calling citizens to collect money.

The Department of Treasury’s Inspector General for Tax Administration Unit is actively investigating these phone fraud cases for the IRS.   The Federal Agents are meeting with each victim to get the details on their case.  All reports need to go directly to the Department of Treasury.
