Driving Under the Influence Program
Riverside, California - Beginning April 19, 2000, officers from the Riverside Police Department's Metro Team will begin a DUI enforcement program on heavily traveled roadways in the city of Riverside. This program follows on the heels of a DUI education program called "Every Fifteen Minutes" which featured the inherent dangers to teenagers who drink and drive.
This enforcement program is designed to coincide with spring break and the upcoming prom season. It will be evaluated on a weekly basis to determine how effective it is, and how long it should continue.
The Metro Team consists of eight police officers and a sergeant. They target various problems within the city.
