Riverside, CA.-- On October 16, 2000, at approximately 9:08 P.M., Riverside Police Officers were dispatched to 4839 Hedrick regarding a shooting that had just occurred. They arrived and learned via telephone that a female inside the residence had been shot several times by her husband, who was still inside the residence armed with a handgun. Officer’s established a perimeter and initiated a request for the Special Weapons and Tactics, (SWAT), team to respond. SWAT officers arrived, made entry into the residence and found the husband and wife suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel entered the residence and pronounced both subjects dead.
Investigators determined that the wife had been shot multiple times by her husband. The victim has been identified as Alicia Hernandez, 43 years old, of Riverside. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body. The deceased suspect, identified as Manuel Hernandez, 45 years old, of Riverside, suffered one self-inflicted wound to the head.
