Riverside, Ca- On Friday, April 13, 2001, between the hours of 10 pm and 1 am, the Riverside Police School Resource Officer unit conducted a "night time curfew enforcement project." Approximately fifty juveniles were contacted who were with 18 –21 year old guardians, or were without guardians but legitimately in transit from entertainment venues and en route home.
Seventeen juveniles without legitimate excuse were arrested/cited for curfew violations and released to parents or sent home. These juveniles were the principle targets of the project, which is meant to have a positive effect on reducing the amount night time crime and numerous problems commonly associated with unsupervised juveniles under the age of 18 years old.
