Riverside, Ca- On December 16, 2001 , at about 7:16 p.m., Riverside police officers were called to a residence in the 2700 block of Wilshire Street regarding an improvised explosive device. The device ignited during the course of render-safe procedures, and fire quickly involved the rear portion of the structure. Riverside Fire Department personnel were standing by as a safety precaution, and had the fire knocked down within about six minutes after it was reported. The incident is currently under investigation by members of the RPD Technical Services Unit. No injuries were sustained, and no arrests have been made in conjunction with the incident.
