Major Injury / Fatal Traffic Collision

Narrative: At approximately 6:05 AM today Mr. Zamora was driving W/B on Fourteenth St. approaching Vine St. in the #1 lane of travel. Mr. Zamora was driving a 2000 Chevrolet ½ ton truck. Just E/of Vine St. a pedestrian appeared in front of his vehicle in the #1 lane of travel for W/B Fourteenth St. Mr. Zamora applied his brakes however was unable to avoid the collision.

The pedestrian was attended to at the scene by emergency personnel of the Riverside Fire Department and transported to Riverside Community Hospital via ambulance. At the hospital the pedestrian was declared deceased by the emergency room medical staff at 6:32 AM. At this point the identification of the pedestrian is unknown. The Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office investigation will determine the identification of the pedestrian.

The collision and follow up investigation is being conducted by the Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
