Riverside, Ca- On Saturday, 03-31-01, at approximately 0812 hours, a Riverside Police Officer, responding to a call involving a subject with a gun who had fired shots, collided with another vehicle occupied by an adult female driver and a 5-year old child. The collision occurred on Jefferson near Auto Center Drive.
The officer was southbound Jefferson in the Northbound lane with his overhead lights activated when the other vehicle, southbound Jefferson in the Southbound lane, made a left turn into a driveway and was struck by the officerís vehicle. The officer stated his siren was not activated at the time of the collision.
All parties were released at the scene without serious injuries. The female driver complained of pain, however refused medical treatment at the scene and advised she would seek her own medical care.
Follow up investigation is being conducted by the departmentís Major Accident Investigation Team.
