Chief Russ Leach and the members of the Riverside Police Department are pleased to announce the 18th Annual Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony & 5K Run. The event will take place on Monday, May 7, 2001. The event will be held in front of the Riverside Police Department’s Orange St. facility located at 4102 Orange St., Riverside, Ca. 92501.

The run will begin at 10:30 AM in front of the Orange St. facility and make it’s through the downtown area. This years event is special in that the name of Det. Doug Jacobs will be inscribed on the memorial. Det. Jacobs was shot and killed while answering a loud music call on January 13, 2001. For details or questions please contact Sgt. On Sunday, May 6, 2001 a candle light vigil will be held at the Safe In His Arms statue located in front of the Orange St. facility. This event is sponsored by the members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. The event will start at 8:30 PM.
