Riverside, Ca- At about 10:00 AM, Riverside police officers responded to a forgery in progress at 3580 Tyler Avenue, Riverside Cal-Fed Bank, where a suspect was attempting to cash a stolen and forged check.
Officers arrived and arrested two individuals. The investigation led to a search of the suspect's car and motel room where numerous altered checks, credit cards, billing statements, and other personal paperwork from 40 other victims were discovered.
The victim's checks and other documents had been stolen from their out-going mail boxes in the City of Beaumont. Riverside Police Detectives investigated the case, and notified the San Bernardino Postal Inspectors Office which will continue their investigation relating to the theft of mail.
Jason Bryce Laird, 22 years old, from Riverside was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, forgery, and for drug related crimes. Leighanne Keyes, 23 years old, from Riverside was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, forgery, and conspiracy. Both Laird and Keyes had their bail set for $100,000.00, and were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Downtown Riverside.
