Police Talk Distraught Man Out of Committing Suicide

Riverside, Ca-  On August 03 at 11:58pm,  Officers of the Riverside Police Department responded to the Galleria at Tyler in reference to an individual calling 911 to advise he was about to commit suicide.  He was calling from the second floor parking lot walkway on the South / West corner of the shopping center.  Officers responded to the area, located the suspect, and quickly contained the scene.  The suspect was found straddling the guardrail of the walkway.

Officers communicated with the suspect for approximately 1 hour. They were able to talk the suspect down with patience, empathy, and good judgment.  He was finally convinced to ride with the Officers to ETS for a 72 hour Mental Health Evaluation.
