Riverside, Ca- On behalf of the men and women of the Riverside Police Department, Police Chief Russ Leach invites you to attend a candlelight vigil in memory of slain Police Detective Charles Douglas "Doug" Jacobs. The event will take place in front of the "Safe in his Arms" Statue.

On January 13, 2001, Detective Charles Douglas "Doug" Jacobs III, age 30, responded to a report of loud music at 3140 Lemon Street, was senselessly murdered while enforcing laws in the community that he loved.
Jacobs, a five-year veteran of the Riverside Police Department was a native son of Riverside, husband, father and friend to many who still mourn his passing. Please show your support for the Riverside Police Department by attending this special event.
