Riverside, Ca. - At approximately 9:39am on January 12, 2002, officers responded to an injury collision in the area of Diana Street and Polk Street. The preliminary investigation revealed that a yellow 1985 Nissan pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Diana at an unknown speed. Just after crossing Polk Street, the pickup suddenly veered to the left and struck a palm tree on the north side of Diana Street.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle suffered massive head and chest injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification of relatives. The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene to conduct the collision investigation.
