Riverside, Ca- On
7-22-02 at 12:01 pm, officers from the Riverside Police Department were
dispatched to 4029 Mission Inn Ave. regarding a stabbing victim. Upon arrival
officers found a 33-year-old male on the west side of the building located at
4010 Mission Inn, bleeding from the upper chest area from a stab wound.
The
victim was able to provide officers with a nickname and a description of the
suspect before being transported to a local hospital. A witness to the incident
told officers that the victim had been stabbed and provided details of the
assault.
A
short time later, officers located the suspect nearby at 4224 11th
St. discarding a knife and items of bloody clothing; he was detained and
subsequently identified by the witness.
Personnel
from the Riverside Police Department’s Crimes Against Person’s Unit
responded to conduct the follow-up investigation. The suspect, who has been
identified as Zachary Johnson, 42 years old, was booked into the Riverside
County Jail on the charge of attempted murder. The victim remains in critical
condition at a local hospital.
