Riverside, Ca- At approximately 1:10 pm, Riverside Police received a telephone call from La Sierra High School regarding two males on campus with a pistol. Police Officers and Detectives immediately responded to the school and surrounding area. After obtaining subject descriptions from a witness, Police Officers in the area located two juveniles walking on a city street that matched the descriptive information, and detained them.
The witness identified the two juveniles, and police found a loaded 25-caliber handgun on one of the subjects. Both subjects are on probation for unrelated crimes, and were arrested on felony charges of possessing a firearm on a school campus. They were booked as charged in Juvenile Hall.
The two juveniles are not students at La Sierra High School, and were on campus today looking for a student, because of a misunderstanding over a female relationship. La Sierra High School Campus Aides recognized the two juveniles as non-students, and escorted them from the campus without any problems. As the two subjects were leaving, a witness saw one of them pick up a firearm from under a tree located on campus, and place it in his waistband area. No one was injured, and the gun had not been fired near the school.
The names of the juveniles will not be released, because of their age. Anyone with further information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Officer Mark Rossi at 320-8000.
