Riverside, Ca- On June 24, 2002, at approximately 2:50 P.M., officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to the Bank Of America at 10297 Magnolia Ave. reference a bank robbery in progress. Upon arrival officers found a suspect being held at gunpoint by bank security.
The suspect had entered the bank carrying a cardboard box and handed a note to the teller, which said he had a bomb and to give him money. The teller gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and he left the bank and got into a white SUV. The suspect was confronted by bank security and detained until police arrived. The suspect was found to be carrying a B.B. gun that resembled a .45 caliber semi auto handgun. Investigators from the F.B.I. and Riverside Police Department responded to conduct the investigation. The cardboard box carried by the suspect and alleged to have been a bomb was found to be a hoax. The suspect, Daniel Jesse Miller, 43 years old was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for robbery.
