Riverside, CA – On Monday May 6, 2002, at approximately 3:46 P.M. officers from the Riverside Police Department attempted to pull over an older model white Cadillac for California Vehicle Code violations in the area of Magnolia and Monroe. The single male occupant appeared intoxicated, and refused to pull over for the officer’s emergency lights and sirens.
A slow speed pursuit averaging 35 MPH ensued, traveling from its point of origination to the Magnolia Center area. During the 23-minute pursuit, spike strips were deployed at three different locations. The vehicle was subsequently unable to continue due to damage caused by the spike strips and came to rest on Central at Rexford.
The driver was taken into custody without further incident or injury, and charged with DUI and evading.
