Riverside, Ca- On May 14, 2002, at approximately 0936 hours, Officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to a report of a "woman down" near the intersection of Mesa Street x University Avenue in the City of Riverside. Upon arrival they located a female who said her husband had just stabbed her while they traveled together in his vehicle.
Our investigation has revealed that prior to the assault, the victimís husband agreed to drive her to her mother's house in San Bernardino. The victim fell asleep on the way but woke up as they were exiting the 60 freeway in the Jurupa area. The suspect pulled to the side of the road and struck her several times in the head with a hammer. She sustained severe head injuries. She convinced him to take her to the hospital.
While enroute, the suspect exited the freeway in Riverside and drove to the alley north of University Avenue near Mesa. The suspect allegedly told her he, "had to finish the job." The suspect then cut her throat with a box cutter. The victim was able to escape when a passerby saw her husband trying to get the victim back into his vehicle. The passerby stopped to assist, causing the suspect to flee in his vehicle.
Further investigation revealed that the female was the victim of domestic violence two days ago in Los Angeles. An arrest warrant has been issued for the arrest of the suspect.
