Residential Burglary and Vehicle Pursuit

Riverside, Ca-  At approximately 10:40 a.m. officers responded to the 5600 block of Yarborough Dr. regarding a residential burglary in progress. The witness saw an adult male arrive in a white truck and park on the street to the front of the house. The subject then walked up to the victim residence, broke a window, and entered. As officers arrived on scene, the subject came out of the house and left in the truck, which had been reported stolen in Riverside County on November 11, 2002.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, but the driver failed to stop. A short pursuit ensued throughout the Arlanza area. The pursuit ended after the suspect vehicle became disabled. The driver then surrendered to officers without incident.

The driver was identified as Oscar Aguilar, a 21-year-old Riverside resident. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for the charges of residential burglary, grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, evading a police officer, and violation of parole.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Riverside Police Department Property Crimes Unit at (909) 320-8000.
