Riverside, Ca- On 10-15-02 around 11:00 AM, SWAT officers stopped a vehicle for CVC violations in the area of University & Park. In addition to the driver, three (3) passengers occupied the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded over one (1) ounce of Methamphetamine, three (3) handguns, and paraphernalia and other evidence that associated the male occupants with a known Eastside street gang. One of the occupants was wearing a shoulder holster containing his loaded handgun. Arrested were:
Rigoberto Pardo 26 yrs. Driver Riverside, CA Robert Pena 24 yrs. Passenger Riverside, CA Arthur Ortiz 24 yrs. Passenger Riverside, CA Danielle L. Gerhold 21 yrs. Passenger
The male subjects were booked for 11379 HS (Trans. of a Controlled Substance), 11378 HS (Poss. For Sales Controlled Substance), 11370.1 HS (Poss. of Firearm with Narcotics), 12025 PC (Poss./Concealment of a Loaded Firearm), 12021 (a)(1) PC (Poss. Firearm with Prior Felony), and 186.22 PC (Participation in a Criminal Street Gang). Additionally, Rigoberto Pardo and Robert Pena were charged with parole violations, and Arthur Ortiz was charged with a violation of probation. The female, Danielle Gerhold, was only charged with violation of probation.
The Riverside Police Department is currently conducting directed enforcement efforts at various locations throughout Riverside as a result of recent gang violence. These efforts involve officers from all divisions of the department. To date, officers from various divisions have teamed up to make over thirty (30) arrests, mostly for felony crimes, including parole violations, and firearm and narcotic violations. Additionally, several known gang members have been arrested. We will continue our enforcement efforts indefinitely.
