Riverside, Ca- At
approximately 2:30 AM today, a traffic collision occurred on Tyler Ave. near
Gramercy. A 1981 Ford truck driven by Brian Edward Harris (34) of Riverside, Ca.
was traveling northbound on Tyler. A 1995 Honda driven by a 19-year-old female
and a female passenger was traveling southbound on Tyler.
The
northbound truck drove into the southbound lanes and collided with the Honda.
The driver and passenger of the Honda were transported via ambulance to
Riverside Community Hospital for severe neck trauma and complaint of pain
respectively. The passenger was treated and released and the driver was
pronounced dead. The Riverside Coroners Office is withholding the 19-year-old
drivers identification pending notification of the family.
The
driver of the truck was transported via ambulance to Riverside County Regional
Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment for cuts on his hand and
forehead. Officers are standing by to book Brian Edward Harris into the
hospitals Jail Ward when his surgery is complete. He will be charged with
manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and driving on a
suspended license.
The
collision is being investigated by the Riverside Police Department Major
Accident Investigation (MAIT) Team.
