Riverside, Ca- At approximately 0700 hours,
Riverside Police Officers Alex Franco and Matt Lackey responded to an in
progress vehicle burglary in the 4600 block of Van Buren Boulevard. Upon
arrival, the officers detained three subjects and a fourth fled on foot. The
three subjects were detained in proximity to a vehicle that was later identified
as a reported stolen vehicle from the City of Upland. The fourth subject was
located and detained a short distance away.
Based on circumstances involving this incident, Auto Theft Detectives responded
to the scene. Through this investigation, the officers recovered two stolen
vehicles at the scene and identified three other vehicles that had been
burglarized. Evidence was located inside one of the recovered vehicles that link
these suspects to a third reported stolen vehicle. This vehicle had been
recovered earlier today by the Redlands Police Department.
The suspects are identified as follows:
Jorge Bernardo, 21, Riverside.
Charity Sparks, 27, San Bernardino
Shannon Gomez, 29, San Bernardino
The fourth suspect is a minor.
The three adult suspects were arrested and booked into the
Robert Presley Detention Center for auto theft and burglary. The minor suspect
was booked into the Riverside County Juvenile Hall for the same charges.
This investigation is continuing.
