Fatal Hit and Run Collision

Riverside, Ca-  On Tuesday, at approximately 3:30 am, the Riverside Police Department received a call of a subject lying on the side of the roadway on Wood Road north of Krameria Road in Riverside. Personnel from the Riverside Police and Fire department responded. A female was located on the roadside shoulder.

Members of the Riverside Fire Department administered first aid however the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation found the young lady was riding her bicycle north of Wood Road near Martin Luther King High School. An unknown vehicle collided with her from behind knocking her and her bicycle to the ground. After the collision the driver of the vehicle fled the scene in the vehicle.

At this point, the identity of the young lady is unknown. The Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner’s office is conducting an investigation to determine the identity of the victim. The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the follow up investigation.

The Riverside Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in this investigation. Anyone who may have been in the area between 2:00 am and 3:30 am, seen or heard the collision or have information about the collision is asked to call Detective Joe Avila at (909) 826-5577.
