At about 1740 hours, a 24-year-old woman was sitting in her 1999 Chevy Tahoe in
a parking lot near Shoe City at 3535 Tyler when she was approached by a suspect
who demanded she get out of the vehicle. The suspect brandished a handgun at her
and then used the weapon to smash the driver’s window out. The victim fled from
her vehicle and the suspect entered and drove off. Riverside Police officers
responded and a description of the vehicle and suspect was put out to nearby
agencies. The victim sustained minor cuts from the broken glass and was treated
at the scene by paramedics.
At about 1830 hours, a California Highway Patrol officer spotted the vehicle at
Hammer and 6th in the City of Norco. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle
but the suspect refused to pull over. The vehicle was pursued to the area of
Milligan and the 60 Freeway just outside of the City of Ontario. The suspect
struck a tractor-trailer rig prior to entering the wrong way of the westbound 60
Milligan off-ramp. The suspect stopped prior to getting on the freeway. Ontario
Police officers assisted the CHP in taking the suspect into custody. The suspect
sustained bite injuries from an Ontario Police canine. The suspect was arrested
for carjacking, felony evading and misdemeanor hit and run. He will be booked at
Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.

Shaun Allen Wachter, 23 years
His last known address was in Norco
Wachter is currently on parole from the California Department of Corrections
