Riverside, Ca- On July 15, 2003, at approximately 10:00 AM, the
Riverside Police Department received a request for a safety check at the home of
Diane Ruiz (34 Years). The caller was a relative of Ms. Ruiz and had concerns
for her well-being. Officers responded to the residence in the 300 Block of
Central Avenue and found Ms. Ruiz inside, obviously deceased. Detectives
received information that led them to suspect Ms. Ruiz’ husband, Patrick
Renteria, 34, was involved in the homicide. A probable cause want for homicide
was subsequently issued for Renteria.
At approximately 7:00 PM, the Riverside Police Department received notification
that Deputies from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Industry Station, had
arrested Renteria during a traffic stop in the City of Industry, based on the
probable cause want for homicide.
Detectives from the Riverside Police Department took custody of Renteria at the
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Industry Station, and transported him to
Robert Presley Detention Center where he was booked for homicide.
