Riverside, Ca- On Sunday, May 4, 2003, the
Riverside Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will
host the 20th annual Riverside County Memorial Ceremony, followed immediately by
a Candlelight Vigil. This ceremony is being held to honor those law enforcement
officers killed in the line of duty throughout Riverside County.
A 5K run will begin at 4:30 pm and the ceremony will start at 5:00 pm in front
of the Safe In His Arms statue at the Riverside Police Department, located at
4102 Orange Street.
Several agencies throughout Riverside County will be participating in the
ceremony. Events will include the presentation of colors, a 21 gun salute, a
bag-piper, a bugler, a helicopter fly-over (Missing Man Formation) and much
more. Refreshments will be served.
Members of the community, along with the media, are encouraged to attend this
