Riverside, Ca- On September 17,
2003, at 2149 hours, an on-duty Riverside Police officer in a marked unit was
traveling north on Main Street through a green light at the intersection of
First Street. A female pedestrian was walking with a friend east across First
Street against a red light and stepped into the path of the police unit.
She sustained injury after being sideswiped by the police cruiser. No one
else was injured in the collision.
The woman, an 18-year old Riverside resident, was treated at the scene by
medical personnel from the Riverside Fire Department and transported to
Riverside Community Hospital (RCH). At the hospital the she was treated by the
emergency room medical staff and later released.
Members of the Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.)
responded to further investigate the collision.
