Riverside, Ca- A 1989 Chevy S-10 truck driven by Mr. Krentel was turning from E/B Alessandro to N/B Trafalgar. Traffic in the W/B lanes of Alessandro stopped and allowed Mr. Krentel to make his turn. Mr. Krentel made his turn not seeing a bicyclist traveling in the W/B bicycle lane of Alessandro.

As Mr. Krentel crossed the bicycle lane the bicycle ridden by Mr. Gomez collided with the passenger door of the truck. The impact of the collision caused the front forks to bend inward and handlebars of the bicycle to break. Mr. Gomez was thrown to the asphalt. At the time of the collision Mr. Gomez was wearing a bicycle helmet.

Mr. Gomez was treated at the scene by members of the Riverside Fire Department and transported to Riverside Community Hospital (RCH) via ambulance. Mr. Gomez was treated by the emergency room staff at RCH and admitted with trauma to the head and upper body.

The investigation is being conducted by the Traffic Bureau of the Riverside Police Department.
