Riverside, Ca- On December 11, 2005, at 1:59am, 23
year-old Bonafacion Juarez was driving north on Streeter Avenue approaching
Central Avenue in his 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo. A 25-30 year old male and his 25
year old passenger were driving East on Central approaching Streeter in a 1992
Honda Civic. According to a witness statement, the Honda Civic ran the red light
at Streeter and was struck broadside on the passenger door by the Monte Carlo.
Both vehicles traveled north across Central onto the curb area where the Monte
Carlo stopped after running into the chain link fence on the corner. The Honda
Civic struck the curb just east of the corner and rolled over trapping both
occupants.
Riverside Fire and Police were called to the scene by neighbors who heard the
collision and Riverside Fire was able to free the occupants of the Honda Civic.
The male driver sustained unknown head trauma and was taken to Riverside
Community Hospital and was found to be in a comatose state. Charges of Felony
Driving Under the influence are pending against him.
The 25 year old passenger in the Honda Civic was pronounced deceased at the
scene. He sustained major head and body trauma. Neither occupant of the Honda
Civic had valid identification and their identity is under investigation.
The driver of the Monte Carlo was not injured in the collision. He was later
released from the scene.
Members of the Riverside Police Department’s (M.A.I.T.) Major Accident
Investigation Team responded and the collision is under investigation. Anyone
