Riverside, Ca- On Sunday, February 20, 2005
twelve members of the Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Police Department
arrived in Riverside to participate in a joint training exercise with the
Riverside Police Department. The group is part of the Ensenada Police
Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and will participate in a
week long tactical training provided by Riverside Police Department. This group
of officers is the first of several groups from Ensenada P.D. who plan to
participate in training exercises with the Riverside Police Department.
On Tuesday February 22, 2005, Police Chief Russ Leach introduced the members of
the Ensenada group to the Mayor and City Council. Chief Leach expressed his
desire to continue the long standing relationship between the Ensenada P.D. and
the Riverside P.D. Ensenada, Baja California Mexico is one of the official
sister cities to Riverside, with a relationship going back over twenty years.
The Ensenada Police Department has approximately 800 officers that provide
public safety to the City of Ensenada, as well as to communities in the
surrounding areas.
