Riverside, Ca- Chief Russ Leach is pleased to
announce the promotions of Officer Patrick McCarthy to the rank of Sergeant, and
Officers Michael Stamps, Matthew Lackey and Mario Dorado to the rank of
Detective.
Sergeant Patrick McCarthy began his law enforcement career with the Colton
Police Department in 1990 as a Reserve Police Officer. He joined the Los Angeles
Metropolitan Transit Police Department in 1992. In 1994, Sergeant McCarthy
became a Police Officer with the Riverside Police Department. He has performed
duties as Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and served as a full time
member of the Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team. Sergeant McCarthy was
most recently assigned to Field Operations Patrol Division and is currently
serving his second term as Riverside Police Officers Association President.
Detective Michael Stamps began his law enforcement career with the Riverside
Police Department in 1992. He performed duties as a Patrol Officer until 1997
when he was assigned to the Special Investigations Bureau as a gang and narcotic
enforcement officer. Detective Stamps most recently assigned as a Field Training
Officer assigned to Field Operations Patrol Division and is currently a member
of the Mobile Field Force.
Detective Matthew Lackey joined the Riverside Police Department in 1998. He
performed duties as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and served as a
member of the Sniper Team. Detective Lackey was most recently assigned to the
Parole and Corrections Team (P.A.C.T.) and is currently a member of the Mobile
Field Force.
Detective Mario Dorado began his law enforcement career with the Los Angeles
Police Department in 1995. Detective Dorado joined the Riverside Police
Department in 1999. He performed duties as a Patrol Officer and as a member of
the University Neighborhood Enhancement Team (U.N.E.T.). Detective Dorado was
most recently assigned as a School Resource Officer (S.R.O.) for the Riverside
Unified School District.
Chief Leach will hold a badge pinning ceremony on Thursday, January 20th at the
departments General Investigations Bureau conference room at 3:30 PM. Promotions
are effective January 14, 2005.
