Riverside, Ca- On June 27, 2005, at 10:48am, a
22-year-old male driving a 1988 Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Van Buren
Blvd. when a mountain bicycle, being ridden or pushed by a 32-year old male
crossed through traffic west on Van Buren, in front of the shopping center at
the 6000 block of Van Buren. The driver of the Toyota was unable to stop in time
to avoid the collision. Jason Reynaud was carrying his 4-year-old son on the
mountain bike and the vehicle struck both.
The driver of the Toyota and his passenger were uninjured. Reynaud was taken to
Riverside Community Hospital and taken into surgery. He is listed in critical
condition with contusions and trauma injuries to his head. The child was also
taken to Riverside Community Hospital for a broken right leg as well as
scratches and abrasions.
All of the involved parties were Riverside residents. Members of the Riverside
Police Department’s (M.A.I.T.) Major Accident Investigation Team responded and
the collision is under investigation. Anyone with further information can
