Riverside, Ca- Chief Russ Leach is pleased to
announce the promotion of Sergeant Larry Gonzalez to the rank of Lieutenant.
Lieutenant
Gonzalez began his law enforcement career in 1993 as a Police Officer for the
Riverside Police Department. As an officer, Lieutenant Gonzalez performed duties
as a Patrol Officer and Defensive Tactics Instructor. In 1996 He was assigned to
the Special Investigations Division as a Gang Enforcement Officer and in 2000 he
was assigned to the Office of the Chief, Personnel and Training Division. In
2001 Lieutenant Gonzalez was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, where he served
as a patrol supervisor. He was most recently assigned as a supervisor to the
Office of the Chief Personnel and Training Division.
Lieutenant Gonzalez is currently a member of the American Society of Law
Enforcement Trainers. He is a use of force and defensive tactics instructor and
has instructed at the San Bernardino Sheriff Academy, Riverside Sheriff Academy
and College of the Desert. Lieutenant Gonzalez is a recognized expert in police
use of force and has advised the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office,
Crimes Against Peace Officers Unit on use of force issues.
Lieutenant Gonzalez will assume his duties on March 11, 2005.
