Riverside, Ca- On Saturday, November 19, 2005 at
10:35 am, officers from the Riverside Police Department responded to Pacific
Mini Mart located in the 10900 block of Magnolia Avenue in the City of Riverside
regarding an armed robbery with a single gunshot fired. The suspect’s
description was broadcast to responding units, who observed a subject matching
the suspect’s description to the rear of the Altura Credit Union located in the
10700 block of Magnolia Avenue. The subject was detained and found to be in
possession of a loaded handgun and an undermined amount of cash. The victim
subsequently identified this subject as the robbery suspect.
Further investigation determined that the suspect entered the market approached
the clerk who was behind the counter and brandished a handgun at the clerk
demanding money. The clerk did not respond to the suspect’s demands quickly
enough and the suspect fired one round in the clerk’s direction. The clerk was
not hit and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of cash from the register.
The suspect then fled the market last seen riding a bicycle from the area.
Lavell Hunter, 20 years old from the Woodcrest area of Riverside County was
booked into Riverside County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, armed
robbery, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a concealed weapon, and
violation of probation.
