At approximately 12:30 PM the Riverside Police Department responded to an injury
collision at the above location. On arrival officers found a deceased male on
the railroad track siding. On the railroad tracks two trains were stopped. One
on the E/B tracks and one on the W/B tracks.
Witnesses stated the deceased subject was walking east on Dewey from Streeter on
the south sidewalk. For unknown reasons this subject ran north across Dewey and
onto the railroad tracks. The subject then attempted to run across the tracks
however he tripped and fell. He then got up and tried to run across the tracks a
second time when he was struck by an east bound train.
The subject was treated by members of the Riverside Fire Department and declared
deceased at the scene. The collision is being investigated by the Riverside
Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
