Armored Car Guard Shot During Robbery
 

Riverside, Ca-  On January 8, 2004 at about 10:30 A. M. a Brinks Armored Car arrived at the Food For Less Grocery Store to make a money delivery. One of the guards entered the store with a container of U.S. currency. As he walked through the store, a man walked up to him from behind and shot him at least one time in the head. The suspect took the container of money and fled through a rear door of the store. Witnesses saw the suspect leave in a newer red Ford Taurus passenger car.

The guard was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where he is in grave condition. His name is being withheld. He is 28 years old and lives in San Bernardino.

Several dozen employees and customers witnessed the incident. None of them were injured.

Investigators from the Riverside Police Department and the F.B.I. interviewed witnesses and collected physical evidence at the scene. They conducted air and ground searches for the suspect and suspect vehicle.
