Riverside, Ca-
On January 8, 2004 at about 10:30 A. M. a
Brinks Armored Car arrived at the Food For Less Grocery Store to make a money
delivery. One of the guards entered the store with a container of U.S. currency.
As he walked through the store, a man walked up to him from behind and shot him
at least one time in the head. The suspect took the container of money and fled
through a rear door of the store. Witnesses saw the suspect leave in a newer red
Ford Taurus passenger car.
The guard, 28 year-old Cory Medlock of San Bernardino, was transported to
Riverside Community Hospital. He struggled to survive but was pronounced
deceased this morning at 10:05 A.M.
Investigators from the Riverside Police Department and the F.B.I. interviewed
witnesses and collected physical evidence at the scene. They conducted air and
ground searches for the suspect and suspect vehicle. Late yesterday afternoon, a
security guard located a 2002 red Ford Taurus parked in the parking lot of a
local business. It was an un-reported stolen vehicle from Riverside.
Investigators are processing the vehicle for forensic evidence and believe it is
the vehicle used in the robbery-homicide.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Rick Cobb
at 909-320-8034 or Detective Jay Greenstein at 320-8058.
