John Program

Riverside, Ca-  On Wednesday January 21, 2004 the Riverside Police Department conducted a “John Program” in the area of University and Iowa in the City of Riverside. Members of the Vice Unit, University of California Police Department and the University Neighborhood Enforcement Team (UNET) conducted the operation targeting subjects who solicit prostitutes for sex.

The program lasted approximately six hours and resulted in the arrests of seven subjects. Six of the subjects were men who were issued citations for PC 647(b), Solicitation of Prostitution and one subject was issued a citation for PC 647(b), Solicitation of Prostitution and PC 12025(a), Possession of a Concealed Handgun. All of the men were released at the scene after receiving their citations. This program is part of an on going investigation into prostitution in the area and will continue on a regular basis.
