Riverside, Ca- On October 1, 2001 police
arrested 4 Riverside men as they fled the scene of a shooting at 7558 Fern
Street in the Casa Blanca Neighborhood in Riverside. Police recovered a handgun
and a shotgun the suspects threw from vehicle as they fled from police. All 4
men were charged with the 664-187 P.C. Attempted Murder of Jose Bojorquez.
Three of the men stood trial last week. The fourth suspect’s trial is pending.
On July 8, 2004 the jury returned guilty verdicts for Attempted Murder against
Jacob Olivarez, Christopher Segovia and Ralph Sanchez Ramirez. Ramirez, a 29
year-old Moreno Valley man, posted bail during the trial. When he failed to
return to court for the jury’s decision, Judge Hanks issued warrant for his
arrest. Segovia and Olivarez are in custody at the Robert Presley Detention
Center.
The Riverside Police Department’s Metro Team and patrol officers have been
searching for Ramirez but have been unable to locate him. Police are seeking the
public’s help in finding him. Police consider Ramirez to be Armed and Dangerous.
A photograph of Ramirez is attached to this Press Release. Anyone with
information related to Ramirez’ location is urged to use caution and asked to
call Detective Ron Sanfilippo at 951-320-9051.
Another shooting occurred at 7558 Fern Street this past Friday, July 23, 2004.
Relatives of Jose Bojorquez live at that location. A nine year-old boy was
struck by gunfire. He sustained a non-life threatening injury to his leg. Police
believe the shooting was in retaliation for the family’s participation in the
recent Attempt Murder trial. At this time, Ramirez is not a suspect in that
shooting.
Anyone with information related to this shooting is urged to call Detective Rick
Cobb at 951-320-8034.
