Riverside, Ca-
On Monday March 29, 2004 at 11:34 A.M.
Riverside Police Officers were dispatched to a child care facility in the 6800
block of Holbrook Way. Upon arrival they located an unresponsive 2 year-old girl
lying on a patio floor. The first officer on scene administered C.P.R. until
medical aid arrived. The child was transported to Parkview Community Hospital
where the life-saving efforts continued. Unfortunately, the child did not
survive. The Riverside County Sheriffs Coroners Office will release her
identity.
Investigators responded to the scene and learned that the adult caretakers
inside the facility, a male and a female, momentarily lost sight of the child.
Shortly thereafter, the male caretaker located the child inside the above ground
spa. He recovered the child and called for his wife to call 911.
Investigators conducted interviews into the evening with the assistance of the
District Attorneys Office and the State of California Department of Social
Services Community Care Licensing Division. There were three other children in
the home when this incident occurred.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Roberta
Hopewell or Detective Patty Masson at 909-320-800.
